TECH-AIR® Race:The Alpinestars Tech-Air® Race airbag vest provides complete 360° protection for the upper body of motorcyclists – whether on race tracks, where airbags are mandatory, or in normal traffic. If the system detects a crash, it activates the protective airbag, which ensures maximum protection for the rider's entire back, shoulders and chest. The Tech-Air® system is compatible with clothing marked Tech-Air® or 4SR Airbag Ready.
The TECH-AIR® Race system recognises when you put on the vest and activates the sensors itself. If you are not wearing the vest, the system is inactive. The system only works in the event of a real fall. The airbag system is controlled by an electronic unit built into a rigid, lightweight, ergonomically shaped polymer back protector and is fully optimised for use on race tracks. The control unit works with 4 sensors - 3 accelerometers and 1 gyroscope. These sensors are located on the shoulders and back. The rider protection system is activated in 3 stages - 1) detection of a possible fall, 2) recognition of a fall by all sensors, 3) activation of the airbag. The airbag inflation time is 45 milliseconds.
The ACU control unit is homologated according to ECE R10 04. It ensures the electromagnetic integrity and stability of the unit. The control unit and other components are fully waterproof and certified for use between -10 °C and 50 °C. Because the control unit and electronic sensors are built directly into the vest, the airbag system can be used with any compatible Tech-Air® or 4SR Airbag Ready clothing.
The Tech-Air® Race system is a stand-alone device, so there is no need to pair it or attach it to the motorcycle with a cable. This makes it easier for the rider to handle and gives them freedom of movement. You can switch the Race version settings to the Street version after connecting to a PC. The airbag system is suitable for all riding styles except motocross, where extreme impacts and movements occur more frequently, which could activate the system spontaneously.
The TECH-AIR® Race system is designed to be lightweight, durable and comfortable, even for long-distance riding. Riders are not bothered by any wires, cables or uncomfortable designs as with other vests. The main construction of the vest is made of Lycra, 2D mesh and Cordura. The inner part consists of perforated Lycra, 3D mesh and soft comfortable lining. The inner mesh is removable. An adjustable waist belt is used to precisely fix the vest in the optimal position.
Use the attached table to select the correct size of the TECH-AIR® Race airbag system. The protective vest can be used with any compatible Tech-Air® or 4SR Airbag Ready clothing.

Tech-Air is certified according to CE Category II? 686/89/EEC, EN1621-4: 2013 - impact protection. The Airbag Control Unit (ACU) is ECE R10 04 approved, which ensures the electromagnetic stability and integrity of the unit. The design and manufacture of Tech-Air are certified according to pyrotechnic standard CE2007/23/EC, which confirms that the airbag has been designed in accordance with all pyrotechnic and safety guidelines and can be transported by car, boat, train and plane. The argon cartridges are certified according to the ISO 14451 standard, which guarantees that they will only function when connected to the electronic unit. This standard also confirms that the cartridges can be safely handled, installed and transported.
